Walk:r comes steaming back on to Guidance once again, a young wizard hailing from Newcastle who’s pressing all the right buttons.

This time he’s unleashing a pair of killer cuts in the form of ‘Leprechaun’ and ‘Mantra’. Contemporary yet fresh, unmistakeable yet individual, Jack Walk:r is slowly but surely carving his own niche within the Drum & Bass landscape; and his niche is one of a carefully considered yet deadly accuracy, a producer that doesn’t miss.

Dropping in anything but a diminutive way, the ‘Leprechaun’ comes in hot, it’s mischievous vocal setting the tone before a wide magical mid-bass lift the track right off. This one is instant rewind material; clean, crisp and yet seriously weighty.

And then emerging slowly, before stealthily dragging you down to his somewhere hidden underground lair (most probably Turbo Island), ‘Mantra’ is Walk:r’s sacred utterance, his spiritual sound woven together in musical form to bring the listener into his world, his vision.

Another class piece from Break. The original was good when it hit. The Bad Company remix was next level and this one to me is a close race for best remix of this classic. This one to me has the most gnarly drop of all. Like his formula is to sneak up on you with the drop and he accomplishes that mission over and over and over again. I've been collecting Break & Silent Witness tracks when I started buying records over 20 years ago. mrmonoxide
